Working via ftp via FIlezilla

Modified on Sun, 12 May at 2:47 PM

Let's look at how to work with files on hosting using the FileZilla file manager.

Using the FileZilla file manager, you can easily work with files on your hosting using the basic FTP protocol. This allows you to view the contents of file directories, create directories, upload, download and edit files located on the server.

FILEZILLA FILE MANAGER

FileZilla is one of the most popular file managers; download the appropriate version of the program from the official website. This is a classic file manager with a working window.

To connect via FTP, you will need to enter information to connect to the server.

CONFIGURING FTP CONNECTION IN FILEZILLA

Click the "File" - "Site Manager" button, or the Ctrl+S key combination. In the site manager, enter the data to connect to the hosting; FTP access will be saved for future connections. We take the connection data in your personal account from the “service management section” (host is a server, port is 21).

WORKING WITH FILES

The hosting root directory will open on the right side of the file manager. The main directory containing site files depends on the selected control panel. You can find it out using a special form.

Editing files and directories occurs using a context menu that opens when you right-click.

Working with directories (copying, moving) containing a large number of subdirectories and files is quite slow. To speed up the exchange between server and local storage directories, we recommend working with archives and then unpacking them in the file manager of the hosting control panel.
