What has changed
Previously, data centers in the same city were listed separately in the configurator with technical codes — for example PAR1 and PAR2. Now such sites are grouped by city: you pick «Paris» without dealing with codes. The technical data center code is not needed to place an order.
What this means for you
- When ordering, you select a city. The specific site within the city is assigned automatically.
- You can see which site you got after the purchase: the «Configuration» block on the service page shows the country, city and data center.
- If you need a different site, you can select it after the purchase via «Change location» in your personal account.
What has not changed
- Servers that are already running are not moved anywhere and stay at their current sites.
- Your personal account and existing services work as before.
- «Change location» and «Change IP» are still available in service management.
If you need a specific site
Change the location right after the purchase, while there is no data on the server yet. Changing the location recreates the server: data is deleted and the IP address changes. On an empty server there is nothing to lose; after you have set it up, there is. The steps are in «How to change the location of your VPS».
About IPv6
In some cities IPv6 addresses are available only at certain sites. If you need IPv6, set the amount in the configurator before placing the order — the server will then be provisioned where they are available.
What we guarantee
We guarantee the city you selected. We do not guarantee the specific site within the city, the registration country of the address in third-party GeoIP databases, or that the same IP address stays with you forever — see «IP addresses: what we guarantee».
